GEM Recognized by Texas Safety Councils as Safe Contractor
-Three Awards Received within the Past Month
GEM Mobile Treatment Services, Inc. (GEM) was recently recognized as a contractor who exceeds safety standards by two Texas Safety Councils.
On May 9, 2013 the Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) honored GEM with two awards for safe work practices in customer facilities for the year 2012. The ISTC, a non-profit training and educational organization who provides safety training and site-specific job safety orientations to contractors as well as many refinery and petro-chemical employees recognized GEM’s La Porte and Nederland field operations for safe work practices. One award was for No Lost Time in the past seven years, and another was for No OSHA Recordables for the past seven years.
On June 4, 2013 GEM was honored by the Contractors Safety Council and the Port Industries of Corpus Christi with their annual Safety Excellence Award for 2012. To qualify for this award, a contractor must take “outstanding efforts to provide a safe workplace and make continuous improvements in safety management and performance”.
“Receiving multiple awards is a testament to our safety culture”, commented Larry Prahin, GEM Director of Operations. “Safety is not just preached, but practiced day-in and out and these awards validate that our Best-in-class program is working”.
