Multiple Technologies Necessary for Complex Vapor Project
A California-based refinery customer needed to control vapors during the cleaning of a Sour Water tank. Sour Water sludge, with the presence of VOC’s, also produces high levels of hydrogen sulfide.
After consulting with the customer and understanding their project goals, GEM mobilized to the site with a 1.5MM BTU MVC, a liquid caustic scrubber, and vapor phased activated carbon. The scrubber was positioned to remove the H2S before the vapor combustor destructed the VOC’s. The vapor combustor was also set up to draw vapors from other sources at the project including frac tanks. The vapor control system performed flawlessly for the two month duration of the project.
The customer site was a safe workspace while maintaining compliance with local and state air district regulations.
