GEM Provides Well Head Gas Pressure Control using Mobile Vapor Combustor
The customer focuses on applying new extraction technologies to existing oil and gas wells and employs this strategy to their properties throughout the United States. In Southern California, where the oil wells are gas rich and air emissions regulations are stringent, current fixed combustion systems can be too small to handle the off-gas and permitting an external flare is near impossible. For this customer, an on-site combustion system is tied to a restrictive air permit and if all the gas from this particular field is routed in that direction, the customer would exceed their permit parameters.
GEM proposed the use of a 42MM Btu/hour mobile vapor combustor to handle the excess pressurized gas from the oil production process. The mobility of GEM’s thermal unit would allow it to move from well-to-well on an as-needed basis.
GEM’s vapor combustion system enables the customer to manage large quantities of gas from the field without interruption. The combustion of the gas allows the customer to move the crude oil into their logistics system as it is produced. By using GEM’s vapor combustor and associated permit, the customer does not have to apply for an EPA Title V large source permit, saving them an estimated $150,000-$200,000 annually.
