Vapor Control for Eagle Ford Shale Crude and Condensate Marine Loading
A midstream limited partnership was under contract with a major oil company to deliver a substantial quantity of crude oil to their Gulf-based refinery by a defined date. Product was to be trucked from production sites to two marine terminals for loading onto barges, where delivery would take place via the refinery marine off-loading sites. The vapor pressure of the product put it over the TCEQ regulatory threshold thus requiring a vapor control device. Without a vapor control system, the customer would be out of compliance with the TCEQ and USCG and violate the terms of their customer agreement.
GEM negotiated approval of mobile vapor combustion (MVC) technology with the USCG and mobilized three manned 15MM BTU Mobile Vapor Combustors (MVCs) to two separate marine loading facilities with short notice.
The customer was able to fulfill the requirements of their contract while maintaining regulatory compliance. With GEM’s equipment availability and unique high-flow thermal capacity, the customer was able to load the required 25,000 barrels per day.
